Fata Morgana Scabiosa Pin Cushion
I'm so in love with this one!
Elegant and uniform cut flowers. An old variety with antique-toned flowers on long strong stems. These flowers bloom from July on. Very easy too.
It's not just butterflies that love these lovely, sweetly fragrant, easy-to-grow, ever-popular and very rewarding hardy annuals; humans are happy to find room for them too! Moderately fast growing, they give a profusion of double pincushion (with pins inserted!) flowers, two inches or so across, on tall, strong stems. Blooming from summer into early autumn, they will give a touch of class to your border and supply you with some excellent cut flowers.
1 1/2–2 1/2", Cream colored flowers stand tall on strong, slender stems. A dramatic addition to any bouquet or garden.
Sowing:
Transplant (recommended) - Sow 4-6 weeks before last frost. Barely cover as light aids germination. Transplant to cell packs or larger containers when the first true leaves appear. In the greenhouse, grow transplants at 50-55°F (10-13°C) to keep the plants from stretching. Harden off and transplant outside after the last frost. Direct seed - After last frost date. Successive plantings every 2-3 weeks until midsummer give the best quality flowers and pods. May require support.
Light Preference: Sun.
Days to Germination: 10-12 days at 65-70°F (18-21°C)
Plant Height: 2’ - 4'
15 seeds.
